Upcycling bedside cabinets : the end result

I finished distressing the cabinets using the dark wax and am pleased with the overall end result. The bedside cabinets now suit the bedroom much better.

Using the dark wax was a bit like working with shoe polish. After watching a youtube demo I felt quietly confident and brushed a generous coat onto the top of the cabinet. I then proceeded to wipe it off with an old rag and clear wax. I couldn't get enough of the dark wax off and found that I ended up with a darker finish than I was hoping for. I sanded it down a little and chipped the corners and edges with the sandpaper before finishing off with the clear wax. Voila, as a first attempt I am fairly chuffed with it.
