I purchased some gorgeous new retro curtains from Habitat. I wanted to hang them on a white curtain rail but my existing fixtures were a dark mahogany effect wood. Rather than spending good money on replacing a perfectly good curtain rail I opted for a bit of upcycling.
If you're anything like me you'll have loads of half empty tins of paint in the garage. They always come in handy for projects like this! I picked a white chalk paint for this project.
After a little light sanding I gave all fixtures 2 coats of paint and voila! Dark wood gone, hello dazzling new white finish.
Suits my retro curtains perfectly!
